NA plane, JNA '90 concept

"NOVI AVION" - "NEW AEROPLANE"

NA (English: New Aeroplane) is legend of "Old Yugoslavia" or fairytale maybe... For some it is symbol of "gold time" and for some it is last rotten project in rotten country. For me it is just one of great design job done in MTI.
NA is one of 20th century ex-Yugoslavia plane project, after the J-20 Kraguj, the G-2 Galeb, the G-4 Super Galeb, the J-22 Orao, and Lasta 95 (there was more but I think these are all MTI plane projects).
"Novi Avion" was designed to be a 4th-generation, supersonic multi-role combat aircraft of cropped delta-canard planform. The preliminary design was approximately one year from completion at the time of cancellation, and if not canceled it would have had its first flight in 1992, and entered service some time in the mid or late 1990s. It was designed to fill many roles, including air superiority, interception, reconnaissance, ground attack, and anti-ship attack. The design was to incorporate a number of features to lower its radar cross section, although it would not have been a true stealth aircraft. The aircraft was to carry an advanced ECM/ECCM suite. It was an all-Yugoslav design, not based on any foreign plane, although France (Marcel Dassault MD) and Great Britain (BAE) was providing some assistance with the design. After analyzing both concepts it was decided to use concept developed with assistance of Franch Marcel Dassault MD. Because of that the Novi Avion most closely resembled the French Rafale, although it was smaller and had only one engine.

In this moment all that is left of this project are few wind tunnel models. One with air intake located under the forward fuselage (a /just for picture marking purpose), and other with two lateral air intakes low on fuselage below the wings (b /just for picture marking purpose ) and one smaller earlier model without air intake defined.

Here are photos of models.
